When you think about skin exfoliation, you probably think about your face, but do you consider your neck and the rest of your body too? ALL OF YOUR SKIN collects impurities that attach to dead cells and they won't slough off by themselves. Non-exfoliation hinders new cell growth. Dead cells trap dirt, oils, toxins, and lots of other impurities beneath their surface.
When I exfoliate, especially my face & neck, I do it twice each time I do it. The first exfoliation removes those worn-out old cells along with impurities and such, and the second exfoliation polishes my skin, leaving it soft, supple, and silky smooth. And oh how I love that feel!
I recommend exfoliating at least once a day, either morning or night. I suggest nighttime exfoliation if you're only going to do it once a day, to get rid of all the "ick" skin picks up during the day. I exfoliate my face & neck morning and night, twice each time, because again, I love the feel of soft skin, and that beautiful polished look.
Now, as far as the rest of your body goes, I recommend exfoliation 2-3 times a week to regenerate cells. But again, every day will give you that silky soft feel always...and healthier skin. Every time you exfoliate, you allow new cells to form and your skin breathes easy.
All that being said...and this is important...exfoliation, as I have already mentioned, regenerates cells and that means you get BRAND NEW SKIN CELLS. I call them baby cells and how does a baby's skin feel? Yup, you guessed it...soft. That means that every time you exfoliate to remove all that junk from your skin, you have baby cells and a more youthful appearance.
I'm 55 but I like looking young and you should too! It's kind of like exercise (not necessarily strenuous). If you stop moving, joints get stiff and muscle atrophy can occur. Well, if you don't take care of your skin, you will age quicker than you thought. And, hey, if you have a few wrinkles, that's ok....I have a few of what I call "character lines" around my eyes but because I exfoliate and generate new cells daily, I always have "new" skin and that means less visible lines & wrinkles. Believe it or not, AGING SKIN IS REVERSIBLE. It doesn't happen overnight but it does happen over time if you give your skin the love & care it deserves.
Here are my recommendations for exfoliation:
- Use a mild exfoliator on your face & neck, but if you want soft, supple, smooth skin, and a polished finish, do it twice
- For the rest of your body, I recommend a good quality SALT SCRUB. Dead Sea salt is the best as it provides great nourishment.
- A good scrub increases blood circulation
The exfoliating scrubs listed below do not disappoint. Premium quality ingredients revitalize & rejuvenate and you will love the skin you're in!
