Detoxifying & Purifying Skin

June 27
Tips from Lisa

Toxins can prematurely age your skin. Chemicals, air pollution, UV rays from the sun, and smoking can damage elasticity, contributing to early wrinkles, age spots, uneven skin tone, and sagging. Certain foods high in processed sugar and unhealthy fats can cause mild inflammation resulting in older-looking skin and acne. Removing toxins & impurities from your skin regularly not only improves & maintains skin health, but it’s also beneficial in the defense against acne-causing bacteria, symptoms of eczema & psoriasis, and even fatigue. And there’s nothing like the feel & look of fresh clean skin.

Tips for maintaining healthy facial skin

  • Avoid touching your face
  • Cleanse twice a day and after sweating
  • Moisturize after cleansing to create a barrier
  • Never apply moisturizer to dirty skin; it locks impurities in
  • Eat foods rich in antioxidants (fruits & veggies, fatty fish, lentils & beans, nuts)
  • Drink lots of water
  • Modify alcohol intake (alcohol dehydrates skin)
  • Use retinoids (vitamin A) to boost cell turnover

  • For acne-prone, oily, or combination skin, it’s best to use facial cleansers that include retinol, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, kaolin or bentonite clays (clears pores & draws out impurities), or pure Dead Sea mud to kill acne-causing bacteria.

Skin that tends to be on the dryer side should use facial cleansers with ceramides and aloe.

Gentle cleansers with soothing botanicals, such as aloe vera, chamomile, and jojoba oil are great for sensitive skin.

    Body skin cleansing & purifying

Like your face, your body’s skin builds up dead cells and collects impurities, which leave skin looking dull & listless. When cleansing your body, using an over-the-counter bar soap cleanser is ok for eliminating odor & bacteria from underarms, feet, and the genital area. But I definitely recommend finding a soap that is toxin-free.

    Toxin-Free Soaps

When it comes to cleansing, exfoliating, and detoxifying the rest of your body’s skin, Dead Sea mineral mud, Himalayan pink salts, sea salt crystals, pure volcanic ash, or activated charcoal are excellent choices. Many products with these ingredients also contain antioxidant-rich plant extracts & essential oils that leave your skin silky soft & smooth.

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Sea Salt Crystals

  • Another excellent way to totally cleanse the skin of toxins is to soak in pure Dead Sea salts. Not only do they detoxify & purify skin, but they also contain over 21 minerals, including magnesium, potassium, sodium, bromide, zinc, and sulfur to naturally replenish nutrients your body loses throughout the day. Dead Sea salts also balance moisture, strengthen cell membranes, soothe irritation, promote wound healing, and reduce stress, tension & muscle pain. Soaking in Dead Sea salts for 15-20 minutes 2-3 times a week does wonders for the skin. This is why the Dead Sea is so popular in Israel.

The skin is your biggest organ and keeping it healthy is crucial. Prevent premature aging and disease with simple skin detoxification 2-3 times a week. You’ll feel & look better, and your skin will have a more youthful appearance.

Be good to your skin and your body!
